During the 2009-2010 academic year, the College celebrated its 50th anniversary with a series of special events developed both to acknowledge this significant milestone and to focus on the important role our college has played, and continues to play, in advancing the university’s mission. Among the highlights were a fall dinner honoring 50 distinguished alumni and a spring luncheon program recognizing 10 prominent faculty and staff for their contributions to the growth and development of the College.
This fall, the College will build on the success of the 50th anniversary celebrations by instituting an annual awards program recognizing the accomplishments of up to 10 alumni, faculty and staff who have made a lasting positive impact on the college and its reputation through their careers. The awards will be presented at a special dinner in Altgeld Hall on Friday, October 15, which is Homecoming weekend.
The calls for nominations for the Golden Anniversary Awards this past year resulted in a large pool of candidates representing alumni, faculty and staff. Since those nominations are relatively current, they will be automatically added to the pool of candidates eligible for the annual awards to be presented this fall. If you previously submitted a nomination and would like to update it, you may submit a maximum of five additional pages of supplemental material and/or letters of support.
The college also welcomes nominations of other exceptionally well-qualified individuals who have made a difference in the college.
The nomination forms are available here:
All nomination materials must be received by Friday, July 30, 2010. You may submit by email, mail (postmarked by July 30, 2010) or Fax. See nomination forms for more details.
