For well over a decade, Ralph Strozza has played an integral role in assisting the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures advance its teaching and learning mission. Helping NIU students clearly is one of his personal and professional priorities.

As founder and CEO of Interpro Translation Solutions, Strozza donated translation software to the department's Multimedia Learning Center in 2003. In so doing, he created an unparalleled opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students alike to receive valuable classroom training in Trados, a state-of-the art translation system used worldwide by professional translation companies and large multinational corporations. Today, the department offers its French, German, and Spanish majors training in Trados, which is supplemented by personal instruction on system use by Strozza and his firm's employees.

Strozza's dedication to helping NIU students succeed extends outside the classroom as well. Since 1995, Interpro has offered paid internships to foreign language undergraduate majors and French and Spanish graduate students enrolled in the M.A. program. For many students, these internships have played a crucial role in their career development. One notable alumnus is a successful translator/interpreter whose clients include U.S. State Department officials, corporate executives, and entertainers.

While Saint Gottschalk may be the patron saint of languages, Strozza is the patron saint of foreign languages at NIU, shaping a world of positive experiences for others through his very personal commitment of time, talent and resources.
