Portfolios

an example of a portfolio

Blackboard's Portfolio tool is designed to help you maintain documentation of your education, samples of your work, and evidence of your skills, to tell a carefully crafted story about who you are and what you can do. Portfolios contain an organized collection of artifacts (for example, assignments, photos, video) as evidence of your accomplishments. You may want to create more than one portfolio to tell more than one story. For example, you might use one portfolio to track research, and another to display writing. Or you can combine artifacts from both into one larger portfolio to tell your entire academic story.

Once it is complete (or at least complete for now), you can share your portfolio with others, at NIU or outside the campus. Each time you share your portfolio with someone, Blackboard creates a snapshot of the portfolio at that point in time. The recipient sees that static snapshot, so you can continue editing without worrying about someone seeing it while it is in progress. Once you want to share the updated version, simply share the portfolio again.
