Nia Brown

Nia Brown transferred to NIU from College of DuPage and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit and Non-Governmental Organizations(NGO) Studies. Now, the Chicago native puts her experience as a transfer student to good use as an Admissions Counselor working with prospective Huskies. 

"I thoroughly enjoy being an admissions counselor as an NIU alum because it feels like home," she says. "The familiarity of the campus, along with the welcoming undergraduate admissions team, fosters an environment for success and professional development."

That sense of community and collaboration is encouraged at NIU, she says. "I advise students to find their community on campus that best fits both their professional goals and personal interests."

Nia’s secret to success as a college student?  Manage your time well. "College is not so difficult once you prioritize time management."
