How do I sign up for PAL Tutoring?
PAL APPOINTMENT TUTORING: For REGULAR WEEKLY tutoring, you can come to the PAL office in Williston 100 to fill out a TUTOR REQUEST FORM & STUDENT CLASS & WORK SCHEDULE.
After applying, you're matched up with an advanced NIU student who has completed the CRLA (College Reading and Learning Assoc.) certified tutor training and who will help guide you through your course. Tutors are assigned to students based on availability. (Usually within one week of your application.)
When your tutor calls, you both decide when and where to meet. Students are eligible for a maximum of three hours of tutoring per week, per course. In order for tutoring to be effective, you should meet with your tutor at least once a week through the semester.
If you miss 2 tutoring appts without notifying your tutor in advance. you will lose the opportunity to use one-on-one tutoring, but can continue to get help at one of the walk-in tutoring centers.
