Summary:
It is important for the university to have policies to manage conflicts of commitment on the part of faculty and staff. A comprehensive review and update of NIU's policies related to extra compensation, supplemental compensation and outside employment & consulting is planned to launch in Fall, 2024. As a preliminary step, NIU is reinstating the Extra and Supplemental Compensation policy that was formerly part of the APPM. We are updating the policy to bring it in line with current state and federal regulations, but otherwise, are generally reinstating the policy as-is.
